One of the many reasons why my brothers and I go all the way to the North even though we live far down South (well, not really) - just traveling to Makati would take us about two to three hours then what more if we go North, blame the traffic! Anyway, it's because we're currently obsessed with a restaurant found in Megamall.
I'm talking about OOMA a Japanese rice bar restaurant located at the 3rd flr. of Mega Fashion Hall in SM Megamall. It is a bold modern Japanese restaurant by The Moment Group. They have a total of three branches around Metro Manila located in BGC, Rockwell and this one in Megamall. This restaurant is my brother's and I current favorite restaurant that even though we live down south, we still commute and travel for hours just to eat and dine here. I'm telling you, it's a must try if you're looking for a new place to eat.
And if you're a heavy rice eater, this is a plus point - you'll definitely love this place because rice is free and unlimited. They said you can never go wrong with the food here, I bet it's true! Well, we haven't tried other dishes besides the dishes I'll be showing (we got to order some before but I totally forgot what it was). Anyway, this is the dishes we usually order and I highly recommend for you to order as well because it's the bomb!
Hamachi and Kani Aburi Maki (P345). Torched hamachi with sesame seeds, pickled carrots, fried shallots, aioli and teriyaki sauce. This dish is my brothers favorite, we got to try the other maki's but this is what we order all the time. I'm no good at explaining the taste but it's tasty and delicious, theirs a crunchy feeling once you bite it and it doesn't taste fishy.
The Hanger Steak (P498). Sous-vide hanging tender, sauteed mushrooms, white truffle oil, sweet potato mash, crispy baby potato, herb oil and ponzu butter. If my brother loves the maki, this steak dish is my favorite. I always look for that salty taste in this dish and making sure the meat absurd that delicious taste before I grab a mouthful bite.
And for the last dish and my youngest brother's favorite is the Ebi Tempura (P385). Ebi, aonori, tempura sauce, aligue mayo and avocado mousse. The dish has 7 pieces of tempura and it's all huge! Definitely worth it for the price! I'm not really a fan of tempura but I still recommend this dish for you try.
As for the service, you don't have to wait long to be seated in Megamall branch compared to BGC, they provide you tea and the menu right away and waiters are very accommodating. Well, there was just this one time that they served our dishes one after the other which we didn't like at all, but still, all is good every time we dine.
We got to spend a total of P1478.00 for two people. I think it's a bit pricey but worth it because it's really delicious. So if you're looking for a new place to dine, Ooma is a must try!
Have you tried this restaurant? Let me know what you think and do suggest other dishes we could also try.
Oh wow! I am a fan of Japanese cuisine and I only go to Yabu for my Nippon fix. We also live in the southern part of Luzon so it takes a while before we visit again. X/
ReplyDeleteAnyways, the food looks good, specially the maki, though looking at the price, made me shallowed already. Hihi.
